The Gleebooks Prize ($10,000) is made to an outstanding book of critical writing.

In the context of the Awards, ‘critical writing’ denotes books which present an analytical, critical or theoretical perspective on subject areas including the arts, literature and philosophy; politics, current affairs and history; and the media, journalism and cultural studies. It is expected that they will encourage and inform public debate.

Previous winners of the Gleebooks Prize include Elizabeth Grosz, Anna Haebich, Peter Mares, Tim Flannery and Kay Anderson.
